About Me
My name is Beth Richman Schwartz, and I’m an IBCLC-certified Lactation Consultant on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, dedicated to supporting pregnant women and new mothers through their breastfeeding journeys—with compassion, honesty, and real-life experience.
My own path into motherhood and breastfeeding wasn’t easy. With my first baby, I faced everything from severely cracked nipples to recurrent mastitis and even an abscess. After three long and painful months, I made the difficult decision to stop. That experience stayed with me and shaped the way I support mothers today—with empathy, without judgment, and with a deep understanding of how hard it can be.
When I had my second child, I was determined to try again. With the support of my new pediatrician and my local La Leche League group, I was able to successfully breastfeed—not only my second baby, but also my third and fourth.
For the past 24 years, I have served as a La Leche League Leader, helping countless families navigate feeding challenges and build confidence. As I approached becoming an empty nester, I decided to take the next step and formally pursue my passion. I completed my prerequisite coursework and lactation education to become a lactation consultant, so I could continue supporting families in a more comprehensive way.
My approach is to educate mothers both before and after birth using the most up-to-date, evidence-based lactation information, so they have the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.
Today, I combine professional training with lived experience to guide mothers through both the challenges and joys of breastfeeding—because no one should have to figure it out alone.her.
